The size of an atom

The average radius of an atom is about 0.1 nm which is m . The radius of a nucleus of an atom is 1/10,000 the radius of an atom which in metres is m If you had a large pea with a radius of 1 cm that represented the nucleus and placed it in the centre of a circular stadium then the tracks would represent the outer boundary of the atom.  An atom is mainly empty space as shown by the alpha scattering experiment in 1913 led by Ernest Rutherford.  His research led to the nuclear model of the atom.
